Unpack and relax, you stay in one place for a week. And we have a wide range of cultural explorations; your experience will be a journey of tastes. We feature a ‘Sample Itinerary’ which offers a suggested culinary program. Modifications to the program are easy enough as we’re flexible. Each outing is of course subject to weather, availability and whether or not it compliments your interests. Rest assured that an exceptional week is planned to highlight the very best of the region. Madrid - The "City that Never Sleeps" Culinary Tour.

Palace Hotel: Spain Gastronomy Tour

Day 1
Depart Saturday.

Day 2 (overnight)
Sunday
Arrival Sunday morning at Madrid International Airport – take a taxi to your hotel, the 5-star luxurious Palace Hotel - it should cost about 15 Euros (approximately $25 CAD).
Walking Tour + Dinner
Check-in then meet the rest of the group mid-afternoon to go for a walking tour of old Madrid. Do some shopping (or enjoy a siesta) before you meet again for dinner!

The Market: Spain Gastronomy Tour

Day 3 (overnight)
Monday
Daily breakfast at your hotel is standard continental or ‘English’ breakfast.
Field trip MercaMadrid + cooking lesson + tapeo
MercaMadrid is the 2nd biggest fish market in the world! Head back to enjoy the first cooking lesson. A four-course meal with wine accompaniments follows.
Rest, then meet again for typical “tapeo” (night of tapas) in Madrid’s local haunts.

Savour the moment: Spain Gastronomy Tour

Day 4 (overnight)
Tuesday
Churros con chocolate + cooking lesson
Wake up to a delicious typical breakfast of “churros con chocolate” the typical breakfast pastry dipped in cup of steaming hot chocolate. Then head out to enjoy your second cooking lesson. A four-course meal with aperitif, wine and sweet wine accompaniments follows.
You will end at about 5PM for the day.
Evening free to ‘do your own thing’ relax & explore the surroundings. Consult your handy Safari Kit for local restaurant recommendations…it’s an excellent resource to ensure that your gastronomic experience is top notch.

Madrid at Night: Spain Gastronomy Tour

Day 5 (overnight)
Wednesday
Field trip Museo del Jamon + cooking lesson
Start with a tour of “Museo del Jamon” and tasting of the various types of Jamon Serrano (if you enjoy Italy's prosciutto you'll love Spain's jamon serrano!). Then enjoy your second cooking lesson. A four-course meal with aperitif, wine and sweet wine accompaniments follows.
You will end at about 5PM for the day.

Day 6 (overnight)
Thursday
Field Trip to Segovia + cooking lesson
Visit the the nearby town of Segovia. The two-thousand year old city with a majestic aqueduct for today's lesson.
Typical dishes of cochinillo (roast suckling pig) and cordero asado (roasted lamb) cooked in wood ovens until crisp & tender will be learnt & savored!
Stroll around the beautiful town with its splendid example of Romanesque art & gothic cathedrals dating as far back as the 12th century.
Return to Madrid & end at 8PM for the day.

The Vineyards: Spain Gastronomy Tour

Day 7 (overnight)
Friday
Field Trip to Aranjuez & Chinchon + bodega visit + cooking lesson + scenic drive.
First we're off to the Royal site of Aranjuez to taste its famous strawberries and asparagus. Then visit the oldest bodega of the regional liqueur, Chinchon, and a meal in the famous Meson Cuevas del Vino (wine caves) still in its original 350 year-old building.
Return to Madrid for an afternoon break, followed by a meal at an exclusive restaurant, with an awards ceremony for the successful passing of the week.
The night ends with a beautiful drive around Madrid at nighttime.

Farewell.

Day 1
Depart Saturday – departure gateway from Canada.

Day 2 (overnight)
Sunday
Arrival Sunday morning at Madrid-Barajas Airport – you’ll make your own way to your hotel in Toledo. The cost for an airport transfer from Madrid-Barajas Airport to Toledo is about 100 Euros (approximately $160 CAD). Depending on how many people you are travelling with, it might be more economical to rent a private vehicle from the airport to Toledo – ask us if you’re interested. The Madrid-Barajas Airport is 40 minutes away from Toledo – by bus 1 hour, by train 75minutes, by car 1 hour.
Walking Tour + Dinner
Check into your hotel & meet the rest of the group to for a walking tour of Toledo. Do some shopping (or enjoy a siesta) before you meet again for dinner.

Thursday
Field Trip to Almagro (windmills, famous stop of Don Quixote) + Valdepeñas vineyards + meal.
Today’s fun-filled and jam-packed day starts off with a visit to the famous vineyards of Valdepeñas & a stop at Almagro, a beautiful setting depicted in Cervantes Don Quixote. You’ll stop for a traditional meal then return to the hotel.
You’ll end at about 6PM for the day.

Olive Oil: Spain Gastronomy Tour

Day 7 (overnight)
Friday
Field Trip to Marzipan factory + hands-on instruction + Olive oil factory + behind the scenes cooking lesson with an award winning chef.
Learn the history, craftsmanship and making of "magnificent marzipan" at a renown factory. Then learn about the olive oils of the region from a notable producer.
Finish with a "behind the scenes" look at the talented chef in action & enjoy the feast and awards ceremony for the successful passing of the week.
It’s hard to believe it’s almost over!
