My Safari Notes. (my personal experience)
The sun came out for our visit today as we drove to the countryside location of the cookery classes. What an incredible setting – the drive took us past olive trees growing in profusion, to the country farmhouse overlooking the valley. Gloria and Anna greeted us warmly, we sat down outside to share a coffee and homemade biscuits and to take in the ‘scenery.’ It’s breathtaking, it’s almost as though you are part of a painting - it’s that perfect of a country scene. Gloria and Anna went on to explain that meals are served outdoors when weather permits – there are 3 locations beside the farmhouse to choose from depending on the temperature. The farmhouse is impressive, it’s a 14th century home filled with Tuscan antiques that Anna’s family has collected. The classes take place in the spacious and airy kitchen upstairs, it’s well-equipped and maintained. Attention to every detail is very important to both Gloria and Anna, in fact each meal is served with a themed table setting dependant on the season and the meal. Your hosts are hospitable and warm, you immediately feel very comfortable and very special.

The Villa Azalee is a charming small boutique hotel that treats its guests with TLC. We were warmly greeted and shown around the beautiful spot. It’s in a great location – very close to everything that you could want to see in Florence. The rooms are comfortable, charming and tastefully decorated, each with its own unique style. The hotel service goes one step further than most and welcomes you to the salon for refreshments every afternoon. You feel like you’re sitting in your own living room.

We unfortunately did not have the time to visit Gloria’s apartment, but we saw many photos and it looks very well-equipped with ample space to teach food enthusiasts comfortably.

It was an incredible experience and is a perfect combination for those that want a taste of Florence’s country life and city life.
