Saturday ‘Flavours of the World’ Cooking Classes.

Delivering a World of Experiences through Food!

Come out to our lunch-time cooking classes for a taste of the world and local seasonal dishes, we’ll ‘travel’ to India for traditional Indian favourites, Morocco for its exotic flavours, our ‘back yard’ to celebrate spring-time and our last stop is to Tuscany for flavourful skewers!

We’ve travelled the globe to share the world’s cuisines & local flavours with you in our farmhouse kitchen studio. Our hands-on classes are very intimate – we welcome a maximum of 8 into our kitchen per class.  

 

We are serving up a delicious price of $45 (+ HST) for a 2-½ - 3 hour instructional class, hands-on cooking, full 5 course lunch and recipes to take home!

New Years Detox - “Super Foods”

Saturday January 21st 11.00-1.30 Lunch

Super Foods”- there are at least 10 super foods to incorporate into your diet to naturally ward off heart disease, cancer, cholesterol, and more.  Today we’ll focus on a delicious menu incorporating many of the Super Foods…Spiced Squash & Banana Soup topped with Pumpkin seeds and Walnuts (this is the absolute best soup I have ever tasted), Quinoa and Goji Berry Salad, Warm Broccoli with Caramelized Shallots in a Lemon Garlic Dressing, Wild Caught Salmon, Blueberry Crumble topped with home-made Yogurt and of course ending the meal with Green Tea.

 

Far East Taste Bud Safari!

Saturday January 28th 11.00-1.30 Lunch

We just can’t seem to get enough of the flavours of the exotic Far East, so today we take your taste buds on a safari taking in cuisines from various countries. We’ll whip up a complete Asian-inspired menu of Chicken Satay Skewers with a Peanut Dipping Sauce, Basil Chicken with Jasmine Coconut Rice, Emerald Green Curried Coconut Milk Vegetable Stir Fry (with a cornucopia of ingredients) and finish with a Thai Style Coconut Crème Caramel.

 

Retro-mania Comfort Foods! 

Saturday February 4th 11.00-1.30 Lunch

The chilly weather has arrived, brrrr, these dishes will keep you toasty warm. Today’s class is all about comfort foods to keep you warm!  We’ll start off with a hot ‘n steamy Creamy Polenta with Mini Meatloaf & Mushrooms (meat loaf is back), followed by Award Winning Chocolate Chili (Chili with a twist), Roasted Red Pepper-Cheese Scalloped Potatoes, Creamed Spinach with Lemon Zest and finally a delicious warm Pecan Pie and a steaming cup of Vanilla Café au Lait.

 

Romance Menu - Cheese ‘n Chocolate Decadence.

Saturday February 11th 11.00-1.30 Lunch

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, we’ll create a delicious romantic dinner for two for next week to surprise the love of your life!  Starting with Valentine's Phyllo Crab Cups, spicy Fondue a la Diable – Nectar of the Gods - served with a host of delicious dippers.  Two Hearts Salad with a hand-made dressing, ending with a wickedly delicious chocolate dessert of Chocolate-Amaretto Heart Cake.

 

Cajun/Creole Mardi Gras Feast.

Saturday February 18th 11.00-1.30 Lunch

Celebrate Mardi Gras in New Orleans!  We’ll make authentic spicy Gumbo soup & hush puppies with dipping sauce, a Cajun ‘blackened’ main course, Mardi Gras salad, Jambalaya and traditional Bananas Foster for dessert.  New Orleans here we come!

 

Cooking with Wraps.

Saturday February 25th 11.00-1.30 Lunch

It’s a definite wrap with all of these dishes!  We’ll begin with Zesty Chicken Spiral appetizers, Salmon with Lemon & Dill in Parchment, Asparagus & Avocado Wraps, Wild Rice Pilaf packets wrapped in Puff Pastry and Baked Wrapped Bananas with Cinnamon, Dark Chocolate Sauce & Toasted Peanuts.

 

Passage to India Feast.

Saturday March 3rd 11.00-1.30 Lunch

Take your taste buds on a trip and transport your senses to India as we present these exciting Indian favourites that you can make in your own home for your friends & family!  Making this meal with a modern twist is easier than you'd think!  Here’s our rundown of dishes - Curried Chicken & Mango on Mini Indian Poppadums, Tikka Masala with Cardamom Scented Basmati Rice, Creamy Spinach and a delicious dessert of Banana Coconut Sorbet. 

 

Classic Paris French Bistro – Oh, la, la.

Saturday March 10th 11.00-1.30 Lunch

Having lived in Paris and experienced ‘many a bistro’, I fell in love with bistro cuisine as I watched the world go by from street side cafes.  We’ll start with Roasted Veggie & Gruyere Cheese Tart; continue on to a delicious Filet of Sole in a Cream Sauce (Sole Bonne Femme/Good Wife), classic Potato Gratin Dauphinois, Ratatouille and ending with traditional Crepes Suzette.  Tres bien, viens a Paris.

 

St Patick’s Day Feast – the luck of the Irish.

Saturday March 17th 11.00 – 1.30 Lunch

Take a little trip to Ireland and create an Irresistible Irish Brown Soda Bread with hand-made butter.  Followed by a savoury and ‘stick to your ribs’ Irish Beef Stout Stew with Irish Mashed Potatoes and a traditional Buttery Cabbage.  The meal is complete with a creamy Irish Cream Crème Brulee.

 

A Taste of Italy - Part I – Dinner in Tuscany.  Risotto & Linguini from ‘Scratch’.

Saturday March 24th 11.00-1.30 Lunch

Always on a restaurant menu, Risotto is a wonderful creamy mass of rice and always in demand.  It can be served as an appetizer or as an entrée, interesting ingredient combinations will provide irresistible results.  Next we’ll make hand-made black pepper, lemon linguini from ‘scratch’ with a Creamy Carbonara Sauce.   If you are willing to set aside little time to make fresh pasta, you will be amazed at the results.  You’ll see the ease with which fresh pasta and an outstanding sauce can turn an every-day meal into a culinary event!  Enjoy Panna Cotta for dessert and you’re in heaven (or Tuscany)!

 

A Taste of Italy – Part II - Dinner in Venice.  Pleasures of Pasta Sauces with Gnocchi & Ravioli.

Saturday March 31st 11.00-1.30 Lunch

You’ll make our own Gnocchi, a special Italian dumpling, along a delicious Squash Stuffed Ravioli dish.  Then we’ll excite your palate with three sauces – traditional tomato, a rose sauce and finally a sage butter.  These sauces are a simple and tantalizing way to spice up your Gnocchi and Ravioli pasta dishes.  Zabaglione tops off your meal, straight from the main square of Venice. 

 

Vegetarian Cooking Class – Eat your vegetables!

Saturday April 7th 11.00-1.30 Lunch

For those looking for meatless meal suggestions, we’ve put together

a sensational group of vegetarian recipes for this class.  Colourful and appetizing creations are what are on the menu from Mini Chickpea Burgers with Yogurt Sauce, to the Best Ever Quinoa Salad, a delicious Spicy Five Grain & Legume Salad, Kale & Avocado Salad and a healthy Blueberry ‘Soup’ for dessert.

Booking & Cooking Terms.

Price:  Cooking Classes are $45 plus HST.  This is for a 2-½ - 3 hour instructional class, full 5 course meal and recipes to take home! 

Discount:  A discount is offered when 3 culinary classes are purchased together!

Classes:  Lunchtime classes will run with a 2 person minimum from 11am- 2.30/3pm. We try to start the class promptly!

Private Classes:  If you have a group of 4 or more, we can customize a class just for you - you pick the day, time and menu and let us do the rest!!! Phone for details.

Payment:  Payment should be made in full upon booking and is non-refundable.

Cash or Cheque (issued Gourmet Safari Inc.) are both accepted - thank you!

Please let us know 7 days prior to class if you are unable to attend. If you have to cancel at the last minute then let us know as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate rebooking for another date.

Menus and prices are subject to change.  We reserve the right to cancel classes with full reimbursement.

Please advise us of ALL food allergies or sensitivities in advance. Dietary restrictions are never an issue, in fact, they are happily accommodated.
